"Today's disc jockeys do more than just shuffle CDs. They also act as Master of Ceremonies, who emcee the event and make sure that everything runs smoothly," says Bill Bodenschatz of Pro Disc Entertainment. "Anyone can announce the cutting of the cake, but only an experienced emcee can round up the photographer, the bride and groom and all the guests to make sure the cake-cutting, for example, happens on schedule."
"Speak to your DJ the week of your reception to make sure they can obtain all the music you’ve requested," suggests Dave Carpenter of Marino Brothers. " Go over the music, events, and general atmosphere you would like to create, as well as allowing time for them to adapt to any special requests you may have."
Freddie James, from Freddie James Disc Jockey Services says it's important for the couple to chose a DJ that will keep the crowd going. " One of the most important parts of the reception is the music," says Freddie. " Your DJ should provide a consultation to determine what kind of music you'll play and how the night will flow. You must choose wisely because the DJ will be the one that keeps the night organized. Many guests will look to that person for direction, so be sure to go with
a service that is well prepared."
Billy James from Billy "J" Disc Jockeys offers, "As you plan your special day, remember that entertainment is one of the most important elements for a successful reception. No other single element will effect more how you and your guests remember your wedding day than a fun and magical reception."
Justin Herman from Something New Entertainment says "Remember -- price isn't everything. Don't sacrifice quality service to save a buck. Know a good value when you see it! A great DJ that understands your personal style will ensure a memorable event that runs smoothly for you and your guests. Book early to lock in this year's rates."
"Brides often make the mistake of waiting until the last minute to create their playlists. Success is all in the planning, so when brides sit down to plan their wedding reception music, they should consider 3 things: music for the cocktail dinner, the Dance List, and the Do-Not-Play List. DJ's usually play 75 songs on average at a typical reception, so brides should compile a list of the most important songs they want to play and rely on the DJ's expertise for making sure the rest of their evening goes as
planned." - Beach Boyz Entertainment Service
In traditional venues, white, florescent light that fills a banquet room may interfere with a bride and groom's vision that they wish to create. Through the introduction of a lighting designer, the couple is able to add feature lighting, spot lighting, décor lighting, and dance floor lighting, all which change the room's overall aesthetic and helps to create a space that seems unfamiliar to the guests... even if they have been there before. Lighting can add drama, energy and customizable atmosphere to any given
space. - Rock the House Entertainment
"Some of the top considerations that couples should take into account when planning their reception music are the type of guests, the skill of the DJ and the bride and grooms personal taste in music. Typically wedding receptions have a wide variety of guests, from children all the way up to grandparents and aunts and uncles. It’s always important to play a good variety of music for this reason. These guests have taken time out of their busy schedules, bearing gifts, to celebrate the most important day
of your life. It is very considerate to include some music they would like and appreciate. If you hire an experienced Wedding MC, they will have the background needed to run a seamless night with the perfect mix of music. Lastly, the music should be a reflection of the bride and groom. Songs they love, that have special meaning to them and songs they love to party with their friends too. If planned out right, their reception will be the one everyone will remember and be unlike anyone else’s." Gloria
from Unlimited Music Productions.
