Father of the Bride & Groom Tuxedo Options
You finally found the dress you'll wear down the aisle; now It's time to start looking for men's formalwear!
The main focus is the groom, followed by his party. There are, however, two more people that need to coordinate with your color palette... your father and father-in-law. Your father is probably walking you down the aisle which means tons of photo opportunities, a few tears, and some dance movies at the reception you did not think he was capable of. Likewise your father-in-law will be taking photos with your fiance, and will stand in the receiving line. Make sure that these two important men are well suited
for
the occasion.
The best option is to make sure that their suits or tuxedos match those of the groom parties, yet they do not have to be identical matches. Let them stand out by letting him wear a different color tie, undershirt, or vest. Make sure that the outfits they choose do not stand out from the groom party because they will also stick out in all of the wedding photos.
On the other hand, your father may already have a snazzy outfit planned out for your big day. Oh great, right? If he plans on renting, make sure that the basics flow with the rest of the groom party, but let him have a little creative freedom. However, if his outfit is coming from the back of his closet and he starts telling you a story about
how he wore it in 1976, smile politely and do not let him wear it! Think of the nightmare it could create, besides that it is out of style, it may not fit as it once use
to either. Dodge this bullet in advance. When it is time for your fiance and groom's men to go shopping, invite your father's as well. Not only will this create a great bonding experience, but it will also allow the professionals to put their two cents in.
In the end your dad and father-in-law, want to feel special because in their mind, it is their day just as much as it is yours. Just make sure he looks good when he tries to embarrass you on the dance floor.
